Final Results
Thanks to everyone for participating in this years pool, and a special thanks for all those that paid in a timely manner.
I'm sure my brother will be denying it for a while, but the official winner of this year's pool is Jen Beerman. She'll enjoy 60% of the total pot after the bonus prizes are awarded. The total pot this year came to $176. The breakout of the prizes is as follows:

Presentation Changes
I've put a few enhancements into the leaderboard, such as showing if a bracket has been mathematically eliminated (bracket potential points less than another brackets total points). I've also drastically changed the "who picked who" link to show more relevant information regarding the final four.

Updated Scores
The feed that I used to figure out the results also provides me with close to real time game info. So I figured.. why not provide a scoreboard so you don't have to head over to ESPN to get the latest. The scores are updated every 2 minutes. Hope you find it helpful.

No more waiting

I'm happy to announce that you'll no longer have to wait for me to manually log in and update the results before you can see your bracket standings. As of this past Sunday, the results and standings will be updated automatically within 2 minutes of the games being completed. It turns out that cnnsi uses a very readable data feed for its scoreboard, and it's this feed that drives my results.

The new 2008 NCAA Basketball Pool

After last year I almost decided not to host the pool again, but then I couldn't bring myself to end the tradition. If you've entered the Beerman office pool before, you'll recognize most of the features, although some of them (such as the "what if" scenarios are not implemented yet on the new architecture.

For those of you new to our pool, please review the rules and instructions before you enter a bracket.

Some aspects of the site you might be interested in:

  • Clone and Go - Once you create a bracket, it is easy to create the second by copying an existing bracket and changing a few things.
  • Bracket Validation - Your brackets are checked for simple problems when you submit it, so you'll know if you missed selecting a game.
  • Quick Search - Search will find results within a user name, bracket name, or the champion specified on a bracket.
  • Sorted Stats - Provides a quick review of who is winning, or who picked what teams to win it all.
